Inka Trail nach Machu Picchu

The four-day trek along the Inca Trail is certainly the most impressive and most adventurous kind, the lost city of the Incas "Machu Picchu" to discover. The existing 45 km long and from numerous stairs, stone blocks and tunnel path was actually created by the Incas and leads through mountain passes and valleys along the Urubamba canyon, whose eponymous river there makes its way.
Along the trail you come again and again to the ruins of ancient Incan cities that lend in accordance with the unique landscape of the feeling of being in a bygone culture. Wonderful mountain vistas of snow-capped Andes peaks contrast with lush vegetation vortropischer in the high valleys.
Walking through the de Sol "Inti Punku" reveals itself suddenly and magically the highlight of the walk, the city lies on a ridge "Machu Picchu".
Tag 1: Piscacucho - Llactapata - Huayllabamba
Today, though exhausting, but extremely rewarding 4-day hike along the famous Inca Trail begins to the lost city of Machu Picchu. In the early morning you will be picked up at your hotel in Cusco and took the bus to the train kilometer 82 in the small village Piscacochu where the tour starts (2650m). Along the way you learn in a short stop in Ollantaytambo the guides, porters and cooks know who will accompany you during the four days. Today's tour is pretty easy and takes you along beautiful mountain vistas. At the Ruins "Llactapata" that you visit, you will have lunch before you continue on to Huayllabamba (arrival around 16:00, 3100 meters). There, the first camp is pitched and gather strength for the next busy day. Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Tag 2: Huayllabamba - Pacaymayu
After a hearty breakfast, the most strenuous part of the hike begins. You walk towards the highest point of the Inca Trail, the appropriate Warmiwañiusca 4,215 m altitude, reached after about 5 hours of walking over a lot of altitude. The fantastic view of the mountain peaks will be unforgettable! After lunch you will rise another 2 hours from up Pacaymayu Alto Valley (3600 m), where the current camp is pitched. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Tag 3: Pacaymayu - Wiñaywayna
This day will take you through a varied landscape - from the highlands into the mist and tropical forests and past numerous archaeological sites. After the climb to the ruins of Runkurakay (3760 m) and their visit we continue to the second pass at 3900 m. Then it goes along some idyllic lakes to the impressive ruins complex of Sayacamarca (3625 m). After crossing another valley, you reach the pass Phuyupatamarka at 3600 m. Guests can have a magnificent view of the snow-capped peak of Salkantay and the Cordillera de Vilcabamba! After visiting the well-preserved and restored ruins of Phuyupatamarka the way many steep stairs leads down through a dense cloud forest. In the afternoon you reach the camp in Wiñaywayna. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Tag 4: Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Today you break up very early dates to watch the sunrise on Machu Picchu. After about 1 hour you reach the Sun Gate "Puerta del Sol" on 2720 m, from where you have fantastic views of the "Lost City", which is in the morning usually shrouded by fog. With advancing sunrise the fog lifts more and gives the full extent of Machu Picchu free. Upon arrival at the ruins you can enjoy the enchanting impressions even before the crowds arrive. Our guide will then lead you through the Citadel and the secrets of the ancient Incan ruins. Then you will have enough time to explore the ruins on your own. In the afternoon, depart to Aguas Calientes, a small town near Machu Picchu. From there you take the train to Poroy, where you will be picked up and brought back to your hotel in Cusco. During the tour you have to carry your personal belongings and your sleeping bag itself. On request and for a fee you can request a carrier.
The things that you do not need, you can keep the hotel in Cusco and receive again after the end of the tour.
We ask you to arrive 2 days before the start of the Inca Trail in Cusco, since at least 1 day prior to tour departure takes place an important briefing and instruction.

Important Note:
The rules and regulations for the Inca Trail are very strict and the trail is limited to 500 participants every day! Therefore, you should the Inca Trail in the off season at least 2 months during the peak season (May - September), book at least 5 months prior to departure. Please contact time so that we can guarantee your participation us. A cancellation or postponement of the Inca Trail is not possible. Inca Trail leads over some high passes up to 4200 m altitude and steep descents. Therefore, you should have a good walking experience and a good level of fitness and allowed to acclimate to the altitude at least 2 days before the tour starts in Cusco.

In February the Inca Trail is closed due to maintenance activities.
